I live in the area that will start the trial run. I have no problem paying for a higher tier of net access. I contacted my local TW rep and asked about the tiers. They run from a $29 solution 3 Mb down x 254Kb up up to a 10 Mb down x 1 Mb up. On the business side, they offer more speeds with up and down being generally closer and even some symmetrical packages. I’m the network admin at a local company and I use TW fiber for Point to Point connectivity between locations plus a 10 Mb x 10 Mb Internet pipe. AT&T offers DSL (including a $20 package), but they cannot match the speeds. Plus, AT&T sucks, I use SIP trunks for voice communications and save my company over $150k a year. I only use AT&T for fax lines and 911 services.

5% of users taking up 50% of traffic (thats like saying ohh you drive 50,000 miles a year on the highway so your gonna have to pay 5 times the amount of taxes than the person that only drives down the block… BS in my opinion) .. Who cares?? The other 95% are probably people who don’t know where to find “My Computer” I’m sure they’re not noticing a difference in network performance while they browse web pages and download their email. It’s just another BS way to piss people off that download from the file sharing networks. But hey it’s a great idea.

Basically what they’re saying is that all this piracy can mean extra $$$ for them. So they’re going to try and find a way to charge for it, but label it different then a ‘piracy fee’. Of course the extra money won’t help you at all if the RIAA/MPAA come knocking on your door.

Well, I have to say this: You Americans, have it all wrong! First of all, in my country EVERY ISP alocates a limit (Say 40Gb/80Gb per month). If you want it unlimited, you pay an extra. If you pass the limit, you can be charged for about a dolar per extra 100mb downloaded. We pay, however, about 40 dolars for a 24mb connection.

Therefore, I consider this “normal”, and I don’t understand your complaints. What I don’t consider “normal” are your mobile plans. I only pay for the calls I make and for the sms’s I send, whereas (if I got it right), you pay (or at least get minutes deducted from your plan) even when you receive calls or messages… Now, that isn’t “normal”.

I really don’t see the problem here…

Every state has different rules about concealed carry, which concealed carry licenses they honor and what they define as self/justified defense. e.g. Try to carry in NYC.
