  sounds very similar to the six cycle engine. Biggest obstacle is the added weight on the car from the steam components

  Yay thermodynamics

  HAs anyone ever thought of putting a little turbine on the two tires in the back that don’t turn or provide thrust? All I am saying is that those tires turn all the time. Sure a shame to waste all that kinetic energy

  Not really a new idea being this same basic concept is used for your heater and for the good old manifold ovens. But its good to see someone using wasted energy for something.

  I don’t understand why they aren’t running totally off of batteries and having the batteries recharged by a small diesel engine that runs at a constant peak efficient rpm. The newer locomotives use something like that. It just seems like an easier system. They could also have a plug to recharge the batteries from the electric grid when parked.

  The newer locomotives? We’ve used these things in the UK for many decades in the local ’sprinter’ type of locomotive.

  Nobody has every put one in a production car. Only Honda, BMW, and a few others have even researched the idea.

  I think the Tesla is probably the way of the future. It would be nice to fit a small generator though to take it on long trips cross-country. Another idea might be to team up with a hotel chain that wants to be seen as eco-friendly and offer charging stations for all electric cars at their locations.

  It’s no violation to run a heat engine. You just can’t get efficiency higher than the Carnot limit.

  So in other words, they’re only (at most) getting peak theoretical efficiency. Wow, that’ll save us!
