  Finally! I can’t believe it. It only took them 10 years. Thank you all for bitching at Microsoft. They have finally heard.

  If they manage to stick to the schedule IE will pass Acid2 before Firefox3 final. Haha.
  Makes you think how Opera manages to pass the test even in its buggiest night builds.

  I’m glad Microsoft is taking standards much more seriously. Does anyone know if IE8 is a rebuild on the current code or it completely fresh code?

  That’s good news. Unfortunately, unless they actually force people off IE6, we’re still going to have to deal with that albatross around our necks for many years to come.

  The offical Internet Explorer blog reports that the development version 8 currently passes Acid 2 face CSS test!

  I’m not sure it’d be possible to specifically pass ACID2 while failing to have a good CSS2 support, unless you create special cases all over that is. And that would be as much work as actually getting the required CSS2 support.

  Did it? I’d moved on to Civ 2 by then…

  At least they’re finally considering web developers in the production of their web browser. It’s a step in the right direction. Towards Firefox. If they keep this up, I expect they’ll be CSS2 complaint well before the 2050 target date.

  And all of it without the need for lawsuits and any tax-payer funded prosecution.

  I can confirm the test has changed - the test used to pass in the Opera 9.5 beta and Safari 3, but now both display like guriboysf's picture.

  Hasn’t frozen over yet. When IE issues error messages that give you the correct URL and line number, and something somewhat descriptive, THEN we will KNOW hell has frozen over.
